Deceased estate documents

When a deceased person owns property overseas or across multiple countries, the executor will commonly need to present identification documents for themselves and authority documents for the estate in foreign jurisdictions. Our notary services include:

  • authenticating copies of Australian identification documents for executors, to assist them in accessing accounts of deceased persons overseas
  • authenticating copies of authorisation documents for estates including Grants of Probate and Administration (eg. Letters of Administration on Intestacy), which are generally required to prove overseas the establishment of the estate and its legal status in Australia
  • authenticating copies of other estate documents, such as death certificates, cause of death certificates, and tax residency documents
  • taking declarations with respect to proposed estate distributions and estate receipts (including releases and waiver for overseas estates)
  • certificates of Australian estate and succession law, including giving explanations of Australian legal principles for use overseas in legal proceedings or in determine estate distributions
